Vanuatu offers good quality accommodation to International standards in Port Vila (Efate) and in Luganville (Santo). Elsewhere, the accommodation standards are basic and reflect the unspoilt character of the Islands. Local adventure lodges are owned by local chiefs, communities or families, they have been built in a total environment friendly way from materials provided by nature. A maximum of 10 rooms/bungalows is the rule at any place.

Accommodation details are specified for each bungalow by selecting the name from the list below and clicking. The accommodation is below modern world standards and our stars are just coconuts. One coconut means a clean room built of traditional material. A shared shower and toilets and a regular service of fresh, healthy food and drinkable water. Our local bungalows are expected to provide transfers and tours and to take good care of its guests.

Two coconuts are awarded to bungalows able to provide two of the three facilities that you take for granted back home: telephone, electricity and private shower and toilet. the rare three coconuts indicate that all three facilities are provided.

Food and catering: All of the island bungalows or guesthouses offer meals, and some have limited bar facilities. While our members do not claim international excellence in their catering, they will provide you with fresh, locally prepared island cuisine. Some staples can be rare at times.

Health and safety: Clean premises, simple toilets and shower facilities are our standard. You will not find anywhere in the world accommodation in closer harmony with its natural and cultural environment. Anti-malarial treatment is recommended, please seek the advice of your doctor.
